Joseph P. Harvey, P.E.Joseph Harvey, President is the Managing Principal-in-Charge for all projects here at JPHarvey Engineering Solutions. Joe attended Old Dominion University and received his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1986. Prior to taking part in a co-op program at Newport News Ship Building, he was a Site Supervisor for Conrad Brothers, a General Contracting Company. He has benefited greatly from that position since first being exposed to the construction field before beginning his Engineering career.

 

After taking part in the co-op program and then onto a permanent Mechanical Engineer position with Newport News Shipyard he decided to join Clark Nexsen. He quickly worked his way up through positions to become a Senior Project Manager. From running prints, managing entire design teams, and resident engineer; he is thoroughly familiar with what it takes to put a project together from inception through completion of construction. He spent 11 years at Clark Nexsen while establishing his mechanical engineering design solutions and guidelines.

 

In 1993 he was recognized as Young Engineer of the Year from Virginia Society of Professional Engineers (VSPE). Following in 1996 he received an Outstanding Service Award, also from VSPE. Once again in 2001 he was awarded with Engineer of the Year. Joe is also a past president of the Tidewater Chapter of VSPE and of ECHR, the Engineers Club of Hampton Roads. He has also held offices at the state level of VSPE.
